Muscle weighs more than fat; therefore, when you begin an exercise program, especially strength training, the scale may not reflect weight loss although your body composition is changing. Testing body composition offers a more comprehensive picture of what is happening inside your body.
Body composition is expressed as a percentage of fat in relation to total body weight. A fitness professional could measure your body composition. You may also purchase a scale or handheld measuring device that will measure body composition.
